This is the first part of a two part series on famous people (men). The names of the individuals are only written in English and are so small they generally cannot be seen without a magnifying glass. The names are to the right of each portrait against the frame of the stamp. The set consists of four stamps of the following values: 60 Dirhams, 1 Riyal, 3 Riyals and 1.25 Riyals.

The four individuals portrayed are:

60 Dirhams - Albrecht Durer 1471-1528

1 Riyal - Sir Isaac Newton 1642 - 1727

3 Riyals - Francois-Marie Arouet de Voltaire 1694 - 1778

1.25 Riyals - Avicenna (Ibn Sina) 980 - 1037

• The high value of the set, the 1.25 Riyals, portrays the only Middle Easterner in this set. The portrait is of Avecinna (Ibn Sina) the famous Persian writer, who wrote on many subjects. The sheet is Cancelled to Order and the date in the cancelation is 18-10-71 (October 18, 1971). Each sheet also has a plate number and the name of the printing company.
