Arab Mother's Day - 1968
1968, 21 March
Printer: Format International Security Printers
Designer:
Sheet Size: 2 x 5
Perf.: 11 and 13 1/2
For Arab Mother's Day another "art set" of paintings from museums and private collections was issued. It is unusual that none of the paintings portray an Arab female, nor any Arab family.
This set of four stamps was prepared and printed by Format Printers, as were all later "art sets", and is well designed and quite attractive. The stamps were printed with two different perforations. Those seen Canceled To Order with a date in the cancelation (9 March 1968), are perforated 11 and are on white paper. Those seen without the date are perforated 13 1/2 and the paper is slightly yellow in color. Additionaly, the cancelation date is twelve days before the release date of the stamps.

- To the left is the sheet with the date in the cancelation of 9 March 1968, twelve days before the release date of the stamps. The sheet is also perforated 11. To the right is the sheet without a date in the cancelation, perforated 13 1/2 and on yellowish paper. Neither sheet has a plate number, nor the printer's name on it.
- Rare essays from the archives of Format International Security Press. What is interesting is that the currency expressed on the stamp images in Arabic is the old currency unit (Rupee), but the English is the new Riyal. When the stamps were issued they had the new currency then in use, plus the values were changed. It is interesting that all the stamps have a value of 1R.
- This pane is from the archives of Format Security Printers and has a row of stamps from the 1968 Children's set and one from the 1968 Arab Mother's Day set. Note the difference in value and other changes from the proof of the Mother's Day stamp above in the bottom right corner. The CTO cancelation has no date.
