Red and Blue Horizontal Stripes
Red Stripe at Top
The following varieties, although they have no text, text in red, or in blue, are illustrated together as the designs include an image.
- No text, only an i9mage - July ?, 1934.
- No text indicating this is an Air Mail envelope, but an air mail stamp was used on it. April 19, 1930
Blue Text
- "AIR MAIL ONLY" - July 1, 1926
- "VIA AIRMAIL" below the two lines. "AIRMAIL" is spelled as one word - May 31, 1926 .
- VIA AIR MAIL" in lower left corner, below the stripes, with lines for the return address in the upper left corner - August 2, 1931.
- "VIA AIR MAIL" below the lines with a box for the stamp placement in the upper right corner. There is undoubtedly text inside the box, but the stamp covers it and I do not know what it says. - May 12, 1926.
- Large box with script and return address lines - May 12, 1926.
- "FROM" and "TO" above the two stripes with a winged globe above and below the stripes. The text is actually black in this cast and not blue - September 1927.
Blue Stripe at Top
- VIA AIR MAIL above the two thin stripes, with the top stripe being blue - July 25, 1928.
- "VIA AIR MAIL" between the two lines, with the top stripe being blue - October 14, 1930.
- "VIA AIR MAIL" between the two lines. The two stripes were continuously printed on the paper and can be found on the back of the envelope as well. The center back is where the bottom and the top of the envelope were folded and the bottom is glued over the stripes and the top folds down over that - October 6, 1928.
- "VIA AIR MAIL" between the lines, with the top stripe being blue - July 15, 1931. The cachet reads July 16, but the postmark is July 15.
- Box below lines enclosing "VIA AIR MAIL Envelopes of this design approved by P.O.D. [Post Office Dept] for exclusive use in Air Mail". The cover is addressed to Roessler and was most likely his design. The top stripe is blue - January 17, 1927.
- "VIA AIR MAIL, FROM" and "TO" all below the stripes in the left lower corner - June 18, 1927.
