TRAFFIC OFFENCE FINE - Image of a Bus in Profile

Dates of Usage: 1990 - 2010 (or present ?)
Fines charged "on the spot" for minor offences. The stamps were issued as proof of payment. Larger vehicle fines were settled in court. When you were given a receipt for a minor offense you had to go to a police station with the receipt and pay the fine. At that time the stamps were applied to the receipt as proof that the fine was paid.

• This basic stamp was used through 1993. There is no year printed on it and beginning in 1991 through 1993 the year was added in black ink. For some reason in 1993 this set was used and then a new set was introduced in the same year. The new design had the year printed in one of the colors of the stamp and was part of the design.

1993 - 94 Second Design for the Year

Sometime during the year 1993 a new design was introduced, replacing the old one. From this point on this is the design used for the Traffic Offence Stamps. The years are now printed in one of the colors of the stamps and is found under the bus. It is not known if all the values were issued at this time.

• This interesting document has four of the Tk.10 provisional "1998 - 99" overprint on the 1997 - 98 stamps, and ten Tk.100 stamps for 1999 - 2000. The offense must have occured in 1999.
