20 February 1980 - 5p Lalbag Fort and 10p Fertilizer Factory SERVICE Overprints

• The above cover was sent on 14 April 1980 from the Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre in Dhaka to New York, USA. There is no indication as to when it arrived. The cover also bears four Tk.1 stamps.

• The original position of the SERVICE overprint on this, and only this stamp, was in the center. For later printings it was lowered to the position it is found on all the other stamps of this issue. The stamp on the right has an error overprint with the printing shifted upward. It had to be from the original printing where the overprint already was in the middle of the stamp.

• This cover was sent from Dhaka on 25 February 1980 to the U.N.E.S.C.O. Headquarters in Paris, France. There are no receiving marks. The cover bears 34 copies of the Fenchuganj Fertelizer Factory stamp with the SERVICE overprint in the center of the stamp. This was the first printing where the overprint was in the middle of the stamp.

• Another cover with the with the position of the overprint to the center of the stamp. The date is unreadable.

• A later cover with the changed position of the SERVICE overprint of the 10p stamps. as well as the tiger stamp from the Ashur printing and the Tk.1 stamp from the Harrison printing. This cover was mailed from the Defense Services Command & Staff College on February 23, 1983 to Wiltshire, England.

• Note that the SERVICE overprint is in the middle of the stamp, not at the bottom. This was the first overprint. The one with the overprint at the bottom was a later printing.

The cover above was sent from the Bangladesh Power Development Board, Dhaka on 21 December 1983 to Schenectady, N.Y., U.S.A.. There are no markings to indicate the date it was received. The cover also bears two 25p Tiger stamps from the Asher printing.
