Special Event and Airline Envelopes

These envelopes were ceated for the stamp/cover collector and were not used by the public for general air mail use.

• September 30, 1946 (eight cent stamp) and September 30, 1946 (five cent stamp). The above two covers are very confusing. They are the same envelope but the one on the left was turned upside down. Each has the bottom (inverted) line pasted over. What is confusing is that the envelope should have the rates interchanged. The airmail rate would not go from eight centts to five cents. It would be the opposite. I have recreated the image of the cover without a portion being covered. This envelope was created only for the rate change and would not have been sold to the public for general use. The logo in the bottom left corner appears to be a bee.

• June 7, 1926.

• An envelope designed for those collecting First Flights - June 15, 1938.

• Envelope for a "Trans-Atlantic First Flight". This is a Harry Ioor envelope - May 17, 1939.

• Envelope created for Navy related events - October 27, 1934.

• This airmail envelope was created for collectors of Navy/Ship cancelations, which were very popular in the 1930s - October 27, 1932.

• October 25, 1930.

• February 2, 1931. With the popularity of collecting First Flight covers, this envelope was produced by Harry Ioor of Indianapolis, Indiana. Ioor became a major force in cover colecting and designed many envelopes and cachets.

• This is obviously another Ioor design created for "special flights" (not first flights) - July 16, 1932. The text on the back reads, "Copyright 1930, by, Premier Press, Indianapolis."

• These envelopes were created for First Day Covers that were sent airmail - November 22, 1935.

• Envelopes made for "Aero Dedications", such as airports, etc. - September 8, 1941.

• July 8, 1939.

• An envelope designed for a "SPECIAL OCCASSION" (an airmail event) - April 6, 1939.

• January 1, 1935. The printing on the envelope is also known in black.

Airline Envelopes

These envelopes were made for and used by the airlines for everyday air mail use.

• An Envelope for American Airlines - July 1, 1946.

• 15 November 1939 - American Airways, mailed from Bermuda

• This is a TWA (Trans World Airline) envelope used for a first flight - November 1, 1950.

• Another TWA envelope - October 2, 1957.
